I happened across these cute little balms after a routine trip to Tesco the other day
- I only really went for sweets (Bad Kerys!)
but considering how much I love lip balms and scrubs, I just couldn't leave them!
Many of you know, I'm a sucker for a bargain or two and these were an absolute steal reduced to £2.30 from £4 (They are full price on the Tesco website - However still reduced in store)
They weren't the only Extracts products reduced either but I couldn't bring myself to spend any more pennies on things like body butters, especially since I'm still loving my Body Shop coconut butter (Read that review here)
Now, I've never actually tried Extracts products before, so I had no idea what to expect, but looking at the cute, expensive looking packaging I thought they would be worth the pennies even at full price.
However, I'm not entirely happy with them.
They smell amazing, that's always a plus, but the actual balm is quite greasy and doesn't sink into your lips very fast at all. So far I have only tried the Mango & nectarine and Pomegranate rosehip pots & have found that oddly, the Mango leaves your lips tinted like you've smeared foundation over your lips (a massive pet hate of mine btw - foundation lips are not attractive!) but on the brighter side, the pomegranate is a little better giving you a subtle pink tint to your lips
I dread to think what the lime green will do..
The other thing I was a little disappointed in, is the fact that they taste of nothing, its like licking Vaseline! - I mean c'monnn even 60p strawberry chapsticks taste of at least something!
They do make your lips feel soft, but at the cost of poor colouring, no taste and value for money I'm not sure it's entirely justifiable to keep using them over my usual lip balm.
I have took photos of my lips but the combination of bad lighting & lack of decent camera doesn't really show you much difference between my normal colour and the effects of the balms..
But to cut a whinging review short, these balms didn't blow me away!
Have you ever tried any extracts prooducts?

Sad to read that these lip balms didn't smell the way they should. I am particular on the scent so I buy lip balms that smells good. I think I have to passed on this one.
ReplyDeleteThey smell okay, its just the feel, taste and tint that is a little off.. but never the less, the scent isn't all that strong even after that :(
ReplyDeleteSo disapointing because although £4 is cheap, its still a lot of money for something so poor!
BUT, I have been told that the body butters are good by my flat mate who got them for xmas last year :) They smell stronger than the balms
