DIY Beauty Products | #1

When I first started this blog I originally planned it to be based around 6 beauty new years resolutions. & one of theses aims for the year was to experiment with homemade beauty remedies & expel a few old wives tales.
Well I never really got around to doing too many posts about handmade products, in fact I think I only actually did one in the end before I changed my blogs style, so today & next week I'm bringing you two organic masks that I have tried & tested.

So, here are the facts:
Avocado is known for its ability to moisturize hair, add shine and body. Bananas repair damage and soothe hair. Eggs add essential protein to strengthen hair and the oil conditions and shines.

Now we know the benefits, it's time to get messy!

+ First of all, you will need a food processor or hand blender. You can use a fork to mash the ingredients but you won't get a smooth texture.

+ Prep your fruit & veg by scooping all the flesh from the avocado & chopping your banana. Place them in the food processor with 1 beaten egg.

+ Wizz together for a minute, then gradually add your oil until you get a smooth & silky texture.
Above I did state that 2 table spoons would be enough but this is just a guide, You may need a little more or less oil depending on how ripe your fruit & veg is.

I used this last week whilst I was alone in the flat - because no one wants to see me with no makeup & mashed banana slathered on my head! - & I let these super foods do their work for half an hour.
I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprised with the results. My hair was shiny, it felt strong & most of all, it felt clean! - I am still partial to a Macadamia Oil bottled hair mask, but I would definitely do this again, because it most definitely does wonders for your locks!

Have you ever made your own beauty products?

  1. This is such a great idea! I really want to give it a go! I've tried natural yogurt and banana before as a homemade face mask which worked rather well and clearing out my pores.
